Why is Indiana Jones such a successful movie trilogy?

what is it that made it so successful? was it the marketing/advertisements? Or was it some other factors? Why is Indiana Jones such a successful movie trilogy?
oh man. it was the actors, the acting, the excitment/adventure/mystery/love story all mixed up into one!!!

remember, everyone loves a good historically based fiction story. museums, curators, ';relic hunters';, tomb raiders, mummies, etc..that can never go wrong. especially when u add in Harrison ford, good looking guy, who is surrounded by intrigue, beautiful women, bad guys trying to kill him, all under the facade of a professor! hahaha...

i think getting the right actors, storyline, and marketing all fit together to make blockbuster hits! and #3 was my Favorite one!Why is Indiana Jones such a successful movie trilogy?
Because the Star Wars generation loves Han Solo...I mean, Harrison Ford?
Uh. The fact that they are awesome movies I think is what made them so successful.
Great storytelling, good production value, and awesome casting.
BECAUSE OF THE FRIGGIN OLDDDD PEOPLE! and i guess for the thrill of watching an action movie
harrison ford! mmmmmm
I don't know, but I think it had a good script, a believable hero, and great visual effects for the time.

I rented them about a month ago and my 11 year old couldn't wrap his head around the fact that they were old movies. He loved them.
