In ';The Lord of the Rings'; trilogy, how did Frodo's Uncle come to acquire ';The Ring'; and Spiegel too?

Having just watched four hours of Lord of the Rings..... I think I missed something. I need some info to understand how Frodo's Uncle and Spiegel came to possess ';the ring'; at the different times in their lives. This info would clear up a lot of loose ends in my understanding of this epic movie, which I adored like everyone else I'm sure.

Thanks... from a Hobbitt lover!In ';The Lord of the Rings'; trilogy, how did Frodo's Uncle come to acquire ';The Ring'; and Spiegel too?
Lol, I can tell you just started watching it. Frodo's Uncle Bilbo was on an adventure, and came across the ring and Smeagol. He then took it with him.

Smeagol, however, had the ring for many years. he aquired it back when he was a ';river folk'; {like a hobbit}, and he and his friend were out fishing. They found the ring, and he killed his friend to get it.

I'm guessing you only saw the last movie. You need to watch the other two first! Watch the extended versions...you'll learn more.In ';The Lord of the Rings'; trilogy, how did Frodo's Uncle come to acquire ';The Ring'; and Spiegel too?
Before Lord of the Rings, there was a book written entitled 'The Hobbit.' They made a cartoon version of it, and they are making a live-action version in the future, but either read that book (by Tolkien) or watch that cartoon movie about Bilbo and Smeagol and the ring.
Aragorn's great great grandfather or something like that

got it from Sauron after he killed him.

and then when he died it ended up in this river,

and then Smeagol's friend found it while fishing,

and Smeagol killed him for it, and later on

Bilbo took it from Smeagol.

i haven't watched the movies in forever,

so if i'm way off on this, i'm sorry. lol
actually, Victoria is completely correct (well done ';nut shell'; version of events).. even if she thought she might be way off..
Smigle took the ring from frodos auncle. i think he got it at Mordor
Well in the books, there is a prequel to the Trilogy called ';The Hobbit'; that explains all of this. Bilbo Baggins was caught up in an adventure with Gandalf the Gray and joins a bunch of drawves in their quest to reclaim their kingdom, taken from them by an evil dragon named Smaug. On this adventure, they get chased by goblins, or orcs or something in a cave, and Bilbo gets lost in the dark and finds the ring on the ground. He soon runs into Smeagol/Gollum (not Spiegel... that's a store) in this cave. Gollum was the original ring owner but the Ring left him because he only lived in the cave. (if you saw the extended miovies, you know that Gollumn used to be a hobbit, but he killed his friend over the ring, then ran off to live in this cave';

Anyhow, that's how Bilbo got it...
