Was George Lucas ever planning on making a third trilogy of Star Wars Movies?

Was George Lucas ever planning on making a third trilogy of Star Wars Movies?Was George Lucas ever planning on making a third trilogy of Star Wars Movies?
As most people know, George Lucas wrote the outline for 9 episodes of Star Wars. Episodes 4-5-6 were the first to be made into movies -- the famous trilogy of the 70's and 80's starring Harrison Ford and crew. Episodes 1-2-3 were more recently made into movies, starring Natalie Portman and crew. The thrid trilogy (Episodes 6,7,8) may perhaps become movies someday, but there's nothing publicly known in the works .

There are many, many novels based in the Star Wars setting. Although allegedly most if not all of these novels must obtain a creative ';OK'; (or at least licensing permission) from George Lucas, I understand that three novels by Timothy Zahn are actually based on the outlines that George wrote for Episodes 6,7,8, and their content was more closely reviewed and approved by George than other Star Wars novels.

I've read Zahn's Star Wars novels and found them to be very good, and they won sci-fi awards. Their plot continues to follow the Skywalker bloodline.

The novels are:

1: ';Heir to the Empire';

2: ';Dark Force Rising';

3: ';The Last Command';

However, even if the above is true, given how Holywood (and Mr.Lucas) operates, if a third movie trilogy were ever produced, it would probably have little to nothing in common with the Zahn books.Was George Lucas ever planning on making a third trilogy of Star Wars Movies?
There were originally 9 written, the studio bought the middle three first and then after the success of them, they did the first 3 and were then planning to do the last 3 but decided not to.
Yes.

At one time he was planning on making 3 trilogies. The third series would take place after the Return of the Jedi.

He has been guarded about the plot, but it would be many years in the future and have new characters.

Currently he has no plans to do this. He is planning TV adventures that will deal with the years between Episode 3 and episode 4.
In the '90s, I was told that he planned to make 1,2 %26amp;3 and then make 7,8,9 later. If that was ever the plan and not some nonsense made up by the 3rd grader who told me, it has since been abandoned.
hope not.
no but there were fans that threatened him through mail to make more star wars movies
I pray not. The last three were atrocious. The only good Star Wars were the originals. I wasn't thinking, ';Wow, look at that explosion,'; I was thinking, ';How's Luke gonna get out of this?';

Lucas just wants to suck money out of our pockets. They're terrible movies.
No don't think so, instead they are making a tv series that takes place between episode 3 and 4
