In the Back To The Future Trilogy, how did Marty and Doc Brown originally meet?
The movies never explains why they were friends in the first place. Do you know?In the Back To The Future Trilogy, how did Marty and Doc Brown originally meet?
Back in the past, when Marty found the doc when he went back in time. The first movie. In the Back To The Future Trilogy, how did Marty and Doc Brown originally meet?
Obviously, it is only when Marty goes back in time to avoid the terrorists that he shows up at Doc's house, and proves that they already know each other. Which as Tazman points out is a paradox cuz Marty introduces himself to Doc in 1955, but Marty wasn't born until about 1968. Report Abuse
It's A Paradox, they always knew each other!
Not said specifically... but remember the opening sequence of the first movie... the BIG OL' SPEAKER system that Marty plugs his guitar into... I'd bet money it has something to do with that
im sure mamacat got it rite.
but this my theory. when marty (the 1st movie) went back to 1965, he was amaze that doc brown's house was bigger. in 1985, doc brown live in his garage. well in the town where marty n doc brown lives, everyone knew that doc brown a scientist and used to be a rich scientist. also it was known to them that doc brown needs to sell his family properties to pay for his invention which lead to believe the time machine. everyone in the town might think doc brown the scientist a weird one and have him stay away from the community.
well marty is the only dude in the town that befriended doc brown. which make his principal angry. he warned marty (in 1st movie) to saty away from doc brown cause he is trouble.
so i think that gonna be another theory abt their relationship. and i said it is a beautiful friendship.
Technically they met when Marty knocked on Doc's door, and Doc tried to read his mind with a collander on his head.
idk and i just watched the movie like 30 minutes ago
Dear KT,
Not sure - I don't think we'll ever know.
-j.
In BTF I it does not esplain. It only indicated that they already knew each other.
I thought the movie shows that Doc is Marty's teacher, like science, chemistry, physics, or something like that.
I assume that Doc befriended marty one day, but it is truly never mentioned
The movie never tells you. They were already friends when the first one begins. Good questions...
Regardless of all that, a friend of mine owns ';car #6';, a 1983 Delorian. He did not own it during the filming, but the original owner had a film contract through the course of the three films.
As the story goes, ';car #2'; was always at the set. Apparently, it has some different molding and real Delorian fans would have spotted this if that car ever made an appearance in the movie.
But ';car #1'; did not sustain any injury during any of the three movies, and was the sole appearing car throughout. If there had been a mishap, the contract called for the reserve cars to be shipped to the set as standby. ';Car #6'; and the others were never called for through the movie. At that time, ';Car #6'; spent most of it's time in a barn in New York state.
My friend does several car shows each year throughout southern New England. Since he has owned the car, he has rebuilt most of the hydraulics and performed many other major maintenance tasks. Such is the fate of a true antique. It currently has about 6,000 miles showing on the odometer. Oddly enough, the car was 12 years old when it was bought by my friend. It had never been registered. It is a beurocratic nightmare to attempt to register a car for the first time, when the manufacturer has been out of business for such a long time.
I have been fortunate. I sat once on the passenger side, and one on the driver side. In both cases, with the door closed. The visibility to the front and rear are quite restricted. I simply can't imagine being on the road inside it. The view out the side windows is really crazy. This model has a tiny window, for use at Toll booths.
The really cool part is the stainless steel body. You don't use anything to clean it. But marks are easily wiped off with a bit of extra fine sandpaper.
My friend watched the series of movies AFTER buying the car.
Marty ran a VHS pirating service in the very first draft for Part I, which Doc Brown got involved with. This aspect of Marty was removed by the Bobs to make him more of a hero - plus it wasn't really relevant anyway.
Another draft (the fourth, I believe) had Marty tell ';Suzy'; (his girlfriend, before her name was changed to Jennifer) that Doc Brown just showed up on his doorstep one day and offered him money to clean his garage. Marty got unlimited use of Doc's record collection, $50 a week and free beer. Again though, I don't think that this story really works for the characters of Marty and Doc as we know them - especially the free beer part! Although I think the bit about Doc's record collection could work. ;)
That's as ';official'; as we'll ever get, but some fanfic writers have come up with their own theories.

There are others, but these are the 3 best ones I have read.
Thats an excellent question
I think you don't remember the 1st movie, when it begins, Marty plays an electric guitar with a BIG HUGE amplificator(sorry for my poor english, lol) I think Marty knows Doc because he's an inventor of many things, and he invented something that Marty wanted. Well, if you have doubts about that, you should see the hole trilogy in DVD with the features and the hole audio commentary.
you got me there, maybe hell i do not know it has been awhile since i watched it

A rip for super star wars trilogy?
Could someone find me or make me some rips for the super star wars trilogy i'd be really thankful....A rip for super star wars trilogy?
what do you mean, exactly?company

Does the Lord of the Rings Trilogy reinforce the stereotypes you have of Elves and Dwarves?
Dwarves: bearded axe-wielderers
Elves: pointy eared hippy types
Trolls: big rock eating mo'fos
etc etc
I am disgusted that these nobel races were stereotyped such as they were - how about you?Does the Lord of the Rings Trilogy reinforce the stereotypes you have of Elves and Dwarves?
Yes it does, but not those stereotypes. It reinforces for me the fact that Dwarves are noble and Elves have old souls.
Actually, I like the Elves being pointy-eared hippy types....maybe that's why I relate to them so well, among other things.
As for Trolls, I am really not sure.Does the Lord of the Rings Trilogy reinforce the stereotypes you have of Elves and Dwarves?
Agreed. Thank you Ichi 鈾? Report Abuse
Tolkien started it all. If he said they were bearded axe wielders(which he does describe them as) than they are just that. And elves are not hippies. THey kick the crap out of orcs and other stuff, like when they invaded Lorien.
Having seen the film ';Lord of the Rings'; but hey it only a film
I ashamed to say I didn't see the triology. So the answer is no.
But they really are bearded axe-wielders, pointy-eared hippies, and so so somethings!
Also, they're in a realm of fantasy. Tolkien just was saying it as he saw it.
If you have read Pratchett you would know that dwarfs are bearded and with axes. Both - male and female.
And trolls are more intelligent when it is cold.
Yes, it does. But I thought that's how elves, dwarves, and trolls were supposed to look like.. I wonder if they are portrayed differently in the numerous sci-fi/fantasy books out there.. To add to the stereotype, we have the popular game, Warcraft.
Well, Tolkien basically invented those kindreds, so his vision of them should be the stereotype.
Elves get kind of a bad name when it comes to Santa and Keebler, so in that case where that kindred has been hijacked, the answer would be no.
Dwarves seem to have remained pretty Tolkien-true as viewed by the public eye. So yes for them.
Trolls have been changed by the under-the-bridge tales, so fourteen foot tall idiotic brutes don't really mesh with the stereotypes there either.

Can somebody please explain the motives of the killers in the ';Scream'; trilogy?
Why did they want to kill Syd, and they won't be happy until she is actually dead? I skipped too many scenes because some characters annoyed me.Lol.Can somebody please explain the motives of the killers in the ';Scream'; trilogy?
Ok, in the first one, Billy wanted to kill her because he believed her mother was having an affair with his father and was the reason for the split of his parents (and Stu was just helping out).
In the second movie, Billy's mother wanted Syd dead because Syd killed Billy. The other guy was also just an accomplice.
In the third and final movie, the killer was Syd's long lost brother who was upset because their mother basically told him he wasn't wanted. Can somebody please explain the motives of the killers in the ';Scream'; trilogy?
1st movie was because Sydney's mom was having an affair with Billy's dad and she left after she found out.
2nd movie was Billy's mom getting back at Sydney for killing Billy
and 3rd movie was Sydney's half brother who got the shaft while Sydney got everything.
I think they were all united in their hatred of the show ';party of five';. Same thing with 'i know what you did last summer', and I think thats why matthew fox is trapped on the dharma island on 'lost'
Revenge %26amp; Jealousy!! The actual killer was Syd's Bastard brother.
At the end of the third film, we finally know all of the details. It is a half brother of Sydney that feels he got the shaft while she got the love.
Sydneys mom was flash her stuff around like she was Sharon Stone, and she's no Sharon Stone..
Well in the first movie it was because Syd's mom had an affair with the killers (was it billy?) father and caused HIS mom to abandon him or something like that....Stupid stupid stuff...

Um, I read somewhere that fans of the Bourne movies will like that new movie, Push, that's in theaters.
Sorry, that's all I got. I'm not a fan of the movies myself.

Patriot Games
The Sum Of All Fears

Clear And Present Danger

Star Wars fans, which changes in the original trilogy bother you?
Do all of them, none of them or some of them? None of them bother me except for (of course) Greedo shooting at Han in ';A New Hope';! I think all of the other changes are greatly enhanced for the better. What do you think?Star Wars fans, which changes in the original trilogy bother you?
I do agree with you that the Greedo/Han scene was changed for the worse, but i did not find that the most annoying.
Also the scene with changing the force ghost to the figure of hayden Christenson, I think was a nice touch, rather than an annoying change. While yes I would have been upset if Alec Guinness was replaced with Ewan McGregor(although Ewan McGregor was an excellent choice for a young Obi-Wan), it's hardly the same thing at all. Alec Guinness had appeared in all three films in some form (whether in life, or as a force ghost) and so we know exactly how Obi-Wan looked as he aged and Alec Guinness has a legitimate presence in that spot. However the last time Anakin looked anything resembling human, was how he looked in Episode III before his body was destroyed by the fires of Mustafar. --wow apparently I rant as well, lol
Anyways the most annoying added scene was the abysmal addition to Return of the Jedi in Jabba's Palace when for some reason they added a musical scene, with jabba's singer's and dancers. I am more than a little angry that now when i want to watch MY FAVORITE movie of the entire star wars franchise on dvd, I am forced to suffer through this scene. Other than that the changes do not necessarily bother me that much, however i still feel the movies would have been best left alone.Star Wars fans, which changes in the original trilogy bother you?
Obviously, I'm hugely in agreement that Greedo shooting first is a major joke that totally ruins one of the best introductions to any character in the history of film.
Sorry - I rant. To answer your question: some of the alien characters in the Cantina scene were altered and/or removed. That really peeved me.
Also - and I meant to answer your previous question about this, at least I think it was you - I do not at all like that young Anakin (Hayden) replaces old Anakin in the final scene of ROTJ. The fans would have gone NUTS if Alec Guiness had been replaced by Ewan McGregor. I think I remember this being done only when the Special Editions were released on DVD - even before Episode II premiered. It was officially the first time Hayden portrayed Anakin Skywalker - in a DVD easter egg. That should have told us something. Now that is all we see when ROTJ is on TV... or should I say SpikeTV. Lame - there's another complaint. Remember when the Trilogy was a holiday staple on the major cable stations?
OK. Rants complete.

What's so great about the'; Cairo Trilogy'; ???
Palace Walk
Palace of Desire
Sugar StreetWhat's so great about the'; Cairo Trilogy'; ???
I found them to be a great trilogy of life in Cairo at that time.It was these novels by Naguib Mahfouz that made me realise that Egypt did in fact have some great contemporary authors.
I have since read almost all of his books and even went and had a coffee in the coffee house near the American University where he was shot.
I actually call our house in Luxor, Palace of Desire on Sugar Street lol!
We live at the end of a tiny street that is not officially named. What's so great about the'; Cairo Trilogy'; ???
I have no idea
sugar street
cuz I'm sugar with a lot of honey
you have to read it to understand .
it was a very accurate representation of the Egyptian society at the time. the characters are very alive and the topics tackled are so immersed in the Egyptian society. the fact that it's very local is what actually makes it that important.

Guild Wars Trilogy pack code?
I want to get the Guild Wars Trilogy pack, but I have a question first...
when you get it, does it give you a code to make an account for each game? Reason being, I already have Factions, and would like to give the code for that to my friendGuild Wars Trilogy pack code?
yes it does. each account code it gives you is separate for all three of the games so you can give the factions one to your friend just like you want 2. hope i helped and have fun.

For those who have read the Inkheart Trilogy.....?
i love this book but the last one, inkdeath, waz a little off to me.....i waz just wondering, how do you feel about what happened between Farid, Meggie, and Doria? i think that it is good Meggie found her man but i felt REALLY bad for Farid...... wat do u think???For those who have read the Inkheart Trilogy.....?
Farid was my favourite character and i was completely shocked at the end...she didn't even know Doria that well and i didn't like him anyway. i think Farid deserved her a lot more then Doria did. so it spoiled the book for me in a way, after the good ending, i just felt completely let down! For those who have read the Inkheart Trilogy.....?
i agree with eve!!! Report Abuse
I think Farid became too much of a ladies man and got what he deserved which was to be lonely. He really turned into a Turd. I was a little disappointed by Inkspell and Inkdeath. I thought that Mo had changed too much. But they all were good books. I can't wait to see the movie.company

The uglies trilogy?
What is it about? Is it narrorated by someone in the book? I never really got an idea of what it is about. The uglies trilogy?
Tally is basically the narrorator. I think it's in third person. I mean, it doesn't go ';I, Tally, did__________';, it goes ';Tally hopped on her hoverboard, crash bracelets on...';
Basically, it's about this ';Ugly'; (I can't explain, you'll see in the books. It'll take too long to write) named Tally Youngblood. When you turn 16 in her world, you get this operation that makes you very beautiful. But she has a problem; her friend, Shay, ran away from the operation. Special Circumstances (a type of police/agency) tell her to betray her and bring her back, or never become pretty. She's always wanted to become a pretty, but can she betray her friend? Dun dun dun...(sorry, the last part's pretty dramatic on my part.)
Yeah, that's the first one. But if I tell you about the second, it'll give some away. I've read two and they are VERY good. You should read them. The uglies trilogy?
Tally is the narrator. She is the main character. I don't remember if it's told in first or third person. But the book is from her point of view or perspective.
its about this future society. there are 2 parts to the community, the uglies and the pretties. the ulgies live in one place, waiting to grow up. when they do they have major plastic surgury that makes them pratically perfect. this society is what is left after the fall of man and so they are tightly controlled. tally gos off and finds people who have rebelled against the people controling society by living out in the old destroyed land. its mstly about their adventures and how they try to stop them.

Wasnt the chronicles of riddick supposed to be a trilogy?
if so, what happened to the third one...?Wasnt the chronicles of riddick supposed to be a trilogy?
Well the Chronicles of Riddick didn't do as well as they wanted to, partially because Pitch Black was kind of obscure and not as memorable as perhaps the writer/director David Twohy had thought. But, there is going to be a third one but I doubt it's started production yet. I know that David Twohy is very likely to be working on the script as we speak, but since most people probably aren't gagging for it I would expect a release in about 2-5 years or so. Sad, I know. I totally love Riddick stuff. They really leave you hanging, huh!
And here's some hard evidence:
';Twohy, who adapted and directed Pitch Black says The Chronicles of Riddick is his most ambitious project to date. He turned down the script originally offered by the studio, telling them that it had to be a much more monumental story, and producing an idea for a trilogy of films. Universal Pictures, keen to replicate the success of the Lord of the Rings films, agreed to Twohy's request and approved a $105 million budget for Riddick.
If the first one is successful, Twohy plans to film two more sequels back-to-back.
November 12, 2004 - The Chronicles of Riddick, starring Vin Diesel, was always planned out as a trilogy of epic films. Unfortunately, the first installment disappointed many sci-fi fans and fell flat at the box office, earning considerably less than the costs involved in making the effects-rich picture.
In spite of the poor returns, Chronicles Part II remains a possibility. Director David Twohy told Now Playing Magazine that the future of the series depends on how well the DVD sells in the next few weeks.
';[Sequels are] still a possibility, but many eyes are watching this DVD release very closely,'; said Twohy. ';Remember that we were saying all along that we knew where the story goes from this point forward, but we hopefully didn't have so much hubris to say that we were definitely making a trilogy out of this. What we were saying was, 'We know what the macro arc is,' and if we were fortunate enough to be successful in this one we knew where we would pick up in the next one. We had it in our minds and there are certain setups in The Chronicles of Riddick for future films, including the Shirah character who now appears in the [director's cut DVD], a character who did not make it into the theatrical version at all.';
The continuation of The Chronicles of Riddick would involve fleshing out the Necromonger mythology and exploring the Underverse, a parallel plane of existence where the Necromonger dead reside.';
I'm sure I over-answered this question, but hey, maybe you're as curious about this as me.Wasnt the chronicles of riddick supposed to be a trilogy?
the second instalment to the Riddick trilogy is ''chronicles of Riddick DARK FURY'; which obviously fell between ''Pitch Black'; and the actual titled ';Chronicles of Riddick'; and is only 35 minutes long but they are considering it as part of the trilogy Report Abuse

What's your favorite part of the Bourne trilogy???
part one. What's your favorite part of the Bourne trilogy???
The part he kicks everyones butt. What's your favorite part of the Bourne trilogy???
THe way he uses situations example the BErlin scene where he uses the boat and train
I couldn't tell you, I've only seen ';Identity';.
matt damon
The part between the Bourne Identity and the Bourne Supremacy when he and his GF screw their brains out for a year or so.
I don't like those movies at all because I cannot stand Matt Daemon!!!!
i really hate how these awesome books wre dumbed down for today's audience. PLEASE read them especially the bourne identity. SO MUCH was left out.
The first time I saw the scene with Bourne on the phone with Pamela and he says that line, ';You should get some rest, you look tired.';
It's like holy crap, he's right there looking at her.....that was awesome.
I agree with the first answerer... Matt Damon! %26lt;3
Um... I dunno, I really liked Supremacy. I think it's my favourite one. And I love all the car chase scenes, they're always fun.
The part where it ends.
In the first movie where they raid the embassy.
It's only because a buddy of mine is one of the marines that was in it.
the books were great. the movies were ruined by hollywood types messing with the plot line too much. they changed almost everything except for the character names.
When the action parts start, it is awesome

who said it was a trilogy? as far as i know, angels %26amp; demons and the da vinci code are part of a series featuring robert langdon, sort of like james bond. it's not going to be limited in a specific number of books. digital fortress and deception point are not part of the robert langdon series.
it's not really a series. it just has the same lead character.
dan brown has released 4 books that i know of. they are:
The Da Vinci Code
Angels %26amp; Demons
Deception Point
and another one i can't remember the name of.
';The Solomon Key'; will be the third book in Dan Brown's Robert Langdon series. It's not necesarily sure if it is a trilogy, Brown may continue with the series after ';The Solomon Key.'; Time will tell.
I think you're referring to Solomon Key, by Dan Brown also, ofcourse. And Angels and Demons comes first before The Da Vinci Code. ^_^

At the end of Lord of the Rings trilogy why does.......?
why does Frodo leave at the end. cause he wants to travel like Bilbo did with Gandalf? At the end of Lord of the Rings trilogy why does.......?
Being a bearer of the ring, he has to pass on to the Undying Lands. He carried a corruption with him (all ring bearers do), and in order for Middle-Earth to live on the corruption must be removed.
Think of the ring as a virus of evil. Everyone that has worn it must pass on alongside the elves(which includes Samwise much later, since in the books he wears the ring a time or two).
The Undying Lands is where all immortals must go. Think of it as passing into Heaven for mortals. They don't die, but they do go there. I believe when mortals in LotR die, they too go to the Undying Lands. At the end of Lord of the Rings trilogy why does.......?
His ';era'; had passed, I suppose. He could not live a normal life because he was only half alive from his ring experiences. I suppose he had much physical and emotional pain so he went to the equivalent of heaven in the story. Something like that.
He isn't going to travel, or on any new adventures. He's going to the other side. His experiences as the ring bearer affected him to the point where he could no longer go on with his life.
He had to leave because of his marking on his shoulder he wasn't safe for his friends to be around them so he just left them.
The answer above is absolutely right. I cant even add any more to it.
All the ringbearers had to leave Middle-earth.
Indeed. He had grown to much (if you will excuse the pun) as a hobbit and needed to move on to bigger and better things...
Which is a better trilogy? Lord of the Rings trilogy or Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy?
Girls, PLEASE do not say ';Pirates of the Caribbean because Johnny Depp/Orlando Bloom was hot!!'; This question is about the movies not which actor was hotter.Which is a better trilogy? Lord of the Rings trilogy or Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy?
L.O.T.R.Which is a better trilogy? Lord of the Rings trilogy or Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy?
LOTR is the better movies
PIRATES (sorry johnny depp and orlando bloom are just TOO hot)
Pirates of the Caribbean---I really liked the movies and I have always like movies that had pirates in it.
I tried to watched Lord of the rings but just was not interested in it.
Lord of the Rings trilogy. How beautiful New Zealand's landscapes! The spectacular scenery remains %26amp; is well etched into the memories of movie goers.
I have to say as movies go, POTC was better. It was well written and put together cohesively. However, LOTR will ALWAYS be my favorite story. I grew up reading it (and listening to my dad read it to me) as far back as I can remember. It was the first book I read on my own. It is incredibly detailed and well written. It is a timeless ageless story that does not and really can not have an equal in fantasy or any other genre.
before I read the rest of the questions I was going to say '; even though I love Johnny Depp I would have to be honest and say Lord of the Rings but on a different level ;)
omfg lotr hands down
Lord of the rings, much better by far!!
lord of the rings. much more involved and intellectual.
Lord of the Rings no doubts.- fantastic special effects and lots more made the trilogy very, very interesting. It is a unique movie really.
for my personal tastes, Pirates was the better trilogy. I gave LOTR a chance, I really did. They weren't bad, but I prefer Pirates.
But the scores to both of the movies are amazingly beautiful!
LOTR i love both though but i was dissappointed by the second pirates of the caribbean dead man chest ill admit it was funny and interesting but it wasnt as good as people said it was...
Though I enjoyed Pirates (I wouldn't mind having even one third of the charm and wit of Captain Jack Sparrow) I would have to say LOTR is better. Fantastic adaptation, fantastic location, fantastic cast and fantastic crew.
lord of the rings hands down
I love POTC - my favorite movie not only b/c of the actors but also b/c of the screenplay, effects, and comdey.
LOTR - is a great movie %26amp; its one of my favorites
Overall both movies are GREAT!
and don't forget Star Wars Trilogy ----- this is another Great trilogy movie
They're awsome - all three of them
LOTR
I love Pirates of the Caribbean...it's an excellent story, and was very well made.
I actually haven't seen all of the Lord of the Rings movies, just the first one and some of the second one....so my judgement isn't that fair, but I do like both trilogies.
LOTR all the way. Better acting and cinematography.
lord of the rings. pirates was good, but lord of the rings..geeez. it was awesome. :))
they both suck compared to the REAL TRILOGY.........
STAR WARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pirates! It is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. I have all three and I still laugh no matter how many times I watch them. The ';Other one'; I couldn't get in to, There's a difference between funny and childish.
Pirates of the Caribbean!!!! %26lt;3... better effects... and just a better trilogy!!! %26lt;3%26lt;3%26lt;3

Is there any probability of war between man and machine as we saw in matrix trilogy?
sigh......
Im sure we are smart enought to make robots that have the ability to do so
And if we do
im sure we will make a button to shut down all robotsIs there any probability of war between man and machine as we saw in matrix trilogy?
hey man, watching movies is really affecting youIs there any probability of war between man and machine as we saw in matrix trilogy?
Do you honestly want to be controlled by the matrix? Dude, ';stop living in a dream world';.
one day. yes. they keep trying to make computers self reliant. and years from now it will be done. so beware of your blender.
Not in our life times. The technology is still pretty far off. True Artifical Intelligence is decades away.
the WAR on a very discrete level is already on. We need so many machines in our day to day lives that whenever one of them give up on us we are easily on the brink of the WAR. Just that as of now we translate that anger to the company that built it.
Once we give the machines the significance and individuality needed to define our kind of wars I think it is most likely that we will be in a WAR.
Also, I can't help thinking that machines will surely redefine WAR. It seems obvious because the root of every win in wars throughout history has been emotionlessness on different levels,be it Alexander or Gandhi.
I don't know, but I have been known to fight with my computer... I reboot it and it lets me think I won... until next time.
I just wanted to add that there may be many scenarios that could make this happen WITHOUT the need for Artificial Intelligence.
I say doubtful, but possible.
That is only possible with a type of machine that not only has Artificial Intelligence but also intelligence gaining capabilities. So not for a while.
I think it's more than probable. I think it's likely.
not with today's technology. Who knows in the future, but I still say very unlikely.
Humans would win.
Especially if the Robots ran with Windows.
Of course there is a probabability, there is for anything. I think that the war is happening right now, just not to everyone's knowledge. What I mean is, machines are taking over people's jobs, so the people who lost their jobs are waging war on them. We depend on them, but Artifical Intelligence is hundreds of years in the future for our technology, so you probably won't see it in your lifetime.
if the matrix trilogy is to be believed, then it could already be happening.
but no, i don't think so. there have been far too many movies about machines deciding to wipe out the human race, i don't think anyone would be dumb enough to actually build a computer capable of thinking for itself. i think they will always provide it limitations that will prevent it from reaching that level of self awareness. computers will get faster and more powerful, but they are still machines that require a basic set of instructions in order to run and do what we want of them.
if you know a hyper intelligent computer is capable of deciding to wipe out the human race, why would you build it?
I highly doubt that. A machine would have to obtain consciousness to think about what it was doing to actually be smart. Humans would always win against machines unless they have consciousness, which I doubt we could bestow upon a machine.
With intelligence, you can adapt.
Of course, if some sort of adaptable robot was created (Again, probably very improbable. Definitely not in our lifetimes), it might revolt. But then it could be put down easily. If we could make a machine that powerful, we'd probably have mini-nukes or something like that. Lasers and whatnot.
: /
hello!!! didn't you see that one movie with whats his face from fresh prince?? i-robot (or something) THE APOCALYPSE IS COM MING!!!
Yes, anything's possible no matter how unlikely it seems (belive me, I learned that from personal experience). But I doubt that people are going to make the same mistake as in The Matrix after seeing that movie.
Yes...and it would last as long as man wants it to...
poor robots, even they will suffer mans obssesions...
If computers ever try to take over just form them into a comittee. That'll screw em
yes and it's already oging on in the core of the eart. AND THE MACHINES A WINNING!!!!!
I say not in my or your lifetime. To do this, it would require the use of extremely complex computers, wich at this point, cannot be created. The only real way to make this possible would be through the use of Quantum computers, which are at this time basically just theories. If one were to be created it could re-enact the way the human breain works, enabling a programmer to effectively make artificial intelligence. As of now, though, it is not possible, or even likely.
If we are smart enough to make robots that could actually control them self and take over then we would be smart enough to be able to shut them all down before any real damage was caused.
I'm already at war with the ********* machines. Nothing in my house works right.

Spiderman and pirates of the caribbean: only a trilogy?
are spiderman and pirates of the caribbean only a trilogy? because i am so inlove with these movies... is it true that its only a trilogy? dum dumSpiderman and pirates of the caribbean: only a trilogy?
Spiderman 4 has been announced:
http://imdb.com/title/tt0948470/
Rumors are going around about a 5th %26amp; 6th one, too.
I am pretty sure that this will be the last PoTC. The only thing that would be able to keep it going is it's enormous amount of die-hard fans. Critics are really not liking the sequels.Spiderman and pirates of the caribbean: only a trilogy?
i remember reading spiderman was confirmed all the way to 6 and the way POTC 3 ended i wouldnt be surprised if there was a 4 because the ending left it pretty open for another adventure
Yes. Who knows maybe they will have more sequels. Johnny Depp says he would be open to more Pirates movies. But think about this: do you really want extra movies that take away from the trilogy? The characters stories come to a close. The sequels would not be as good. It would be a letdown and take away from the legacy of the movies.
Spider Man 3 made huge money. POTC 3 will make tons of cash too. Bet on more sequels.
Speculations abound!
Who will know, but the ones making these films.
spiderman has 3 more movies in the works possibly. I think pirates are done with the third though.
There will be another Spiderman, but not with Sam Raimi as director, or Tobey McGuire as Spidey.
Johnny Depp has also hinted there will be another Pirates (if the script is right)
spiderman is on for 7 an one more pirates
no...
there's gonna be part 4 for the pirates of the caribbean...
but the cast will be taking their time off for a while. orlando bloom made his first appearance o TPOTC when he was in his 20s, but now he's 30...

Can someone please give me a plot summery of th Pirates of the Carribbean Trilogy?
The first one is about a cursed treasure and how the cursed pirates want to return all the pieces of Aztec gold to where the treasure is hidden to lift the curse. Elizabeth now has the last piece as she took it from will when they rescued him from the sea when they were kids.
The pirates attack the city and take Elizabeth (and the medallion). Will who is in love with Elizabeth seek help from Jack Sparrow and Jack realizing he is the only son of Bootstrap Bill Turner (one of the pirates who they believe is dead) agrees to help him out to find Elizabeth.
They reached the Island just as the pirates were trying to lift the curse by returning the last piece of medallion and some of Elizabeth鈥檚 Blood. And that鈥檚 when they realize that Elizabeth is not actually the child of Bootstrap Bill and therefore her blood can not be used to lift the curse.
Will and Elizabeth escape the island leaving jack Sparrow behind who tries to exchange the name of Bootstrap鈥檚 child for the Black Pearl (his old ship which is now under the command of captain Barbosa).
The negotiation leads nowhere and the pirates catch up with Wills鈥?ship and capture Will and leave Jack and Elizabeth on a small island to die. But they managed to escape with the help of the HMS and Elizabeth convinces them to go look for Will in exchange for accepting commodore Norringtons mirage proposal who is also in love with her.
With the help of Jack they find the island and fight the pirates. They manage to win the battle (after the curse was lifted) and retune to port royal where they try to hang Jack Sparrow for piracy and a bunch of other crimes but he manages to escape with the help of Will.
In the end Elizabeth tells commodore Norringtons that he is in love with Will and can not marry him. And Jack Sparrow sails away with the Black Pearl back.
In the second one Davy Jones (captain of the Flying Dutchman) wants Jack Sparrows鈥?soul, as apparently he has sold it to him in exchanged for him to recover the Black Pearl from the sea.
They go to Tia Dalma for advice and she tells them a story about Davy Jones and how he fell in love with a woman and he couldn鈥檛 stand the pain and misery. So he took his heart out and put it in a chest and hid it from the world. She also told them that whoever finds the heart can rule him and his ship.
While on search for the heart they cross path with Davy Jones, and Jack Sparrow tries to make a deal with him by offering him a hundred souls instead of his. He accepts and takes will turner as part of his debt and gives him 3 days to find 99 other souls.
Will meets his father on the Flying Dutchman and makes a promis to him that he will find and stab Davy Jones heart and rescue him from the ship. He steals the key to the chest containing the heart and escapes.
Another person who wants the heart of Davy Jones is commodore Norrington who has lost his honer after letting Jack escape and now is sailing as part of the Black Pearls crew with Jack and Elizabeth (who is tring to find Will).
They all reach the island at the same time and find the chest and then start a fight over it andinthe end Norrington manages to steal it from Jack who thinks he he hashidden it safely in his jar of dirth.
Davy Jones who is vey angry sets the kraken (a big sea beast) on the Black Pearl and Jack realizing his jar of dirth is empty tries to evacuate the Pearl. Elizabeth knowing the beast is after Jack and will not let them get away if he is with them tricks him and tie his hands to the pearl and tells the others he chose to stay to give them a chance.
The kraken takes the ship with it鈥檚 captain and the rest of the crew escape. They go back to Tia Dalma and give her the news. She tells them that Jack has been taken to Davy Jones locker and the only way to bring him back would be to go to the worlds end. And shetells them that to do that they need to get help from someone who knows those waters.
That鈥檚 when Captain Barbosa turns up and the movie ends.
The third one is really too complicated to explain. There鈥檚 a 100 different stories going on. But basically they rescued Jack from the locker and then they each fought for a different reason (sometimes with and sometimes against each other). In the end it鈥檚 hard to say who won, as no one completely got what they had hoped for.Can someone please give me a plot summery of th Pirates of the Carribbean Trilogy?

Pirate meets Girl; Girl rejects Pirate; Pirate saves Girl; Girl falls in love with Pirate; Pirate gets captured; Girl pleads for Pirate's life; Pleadings fail; Pirate escapes anyway; Pirate bonks girl; All live happily ever after [except me - 'cos I wanted to bonk her!]

It's about Pirates, what more of a summery do u need to know.

Discussion: Bartimaeus Trilogy?
I just finished Ptolemy's Gate, I thought it was a fantastic trilogy, fantastic ending (although sad), and I'm wondering why it hasn't been made into a movie yet?
What are your thoughts on the Trilogy?Discussion: Bartimaeus Trilogy?
I thought they were very well written.
I too had trouble with the first book, but I think that was because the main character is hard to like. For me, this was redeemed and the journey he made from book one to book three made the ending all the more poignant. The first book has a point to make that makes the ending more meaningful. I saw this as a redemption story.
It may make a good film, but I have a pet hate of books being made into films, they usually trash them. I mean Eragon!?! No wonder the film option got dropped. The only exemption to this rule has so far been the Harry Potter films, but even then i was shouting at the screen about inconsistencies and changes ';He didn't say that! So and so did';
I guess when you love something it is hard when someone changes it. And books evoke very strong images of characters and events if they are written well. There is nothing worse than seeing someone else's interpretation and it being totally different, or when they miscast a character.
As for why it hasn't been made into a film, I would guess either the rights haven't been sold, or the books are just not popular enough in the rand scheme of things, i.e, they won't make enough money from it.Discussion: Bartimaeus Trilogy?
Yeah, I really liked the first book, so I read the second and third, and I absolutely love them!
It would be great if someone could turn them into a movie.
I only got past the first one. Couldn't really get into it. Is it worth interupting my busy reading schedule just to try this book again?

Autococker trilogy or spyder tlr?
which is a better gun.Autococker trilogy or spyder tlr?
If it were any other autococker, then the autococker would be the better gun. But the trilogy is somewhat a poor man's autococker and isn't up to the same par, although it's a little easier to maintain.
I'd say they're about equal so it's personal preference. The spyder has a few more upgrade options, as the design of the trilogy leaves its upgrades a bit more limited in comparison to the original autocockers.Autococker trilogy or spyder tlr?
wgp has really dropped off the face of the earth in the last couple of years and the trilogy really shows this. if your buying an autococker get one from around 2005, they were and are so much better then the ones they make now and you can pick them up for a good price these days, check out the karnivor autococker. spyder's aren't really that reliable its basically a toss up

What do you want your character to be like in the P&S trilogy I've got in production?
Also, any lines you've always wanted to say in a movie? Now is your chance......What do you want your character to be like in the P%26amp;S trilogy I've got in production?
My character would be kinda like the earth mother type. Giving comfort to all the children. No lines just soulful glances and embraces. What do you want your character to be like in the P%26amp;S trilogy I've got in production?
Me, aren't I interesting enough....
';Haha! I finally got Judas Rabbi to speak more than 5 words!';
I'll be the interrogator.
I don't know where I fit in....use artistic license when penning my role and I will be happy to be included.
HOO Hoo I want to be Erica ! With all the money !! I can even flip my hair ! Will this be on u tube ?
I'd like to be just like Joni B in the good ole days.
Pardonne Moi will be the sarcastic chic that you love to hate. But she is hotter than hellfire! My line will be, ';Don't hate me because i have all the answers.';
I'd like to be the guru character. The wise one, so different from my life. And my line is the same as on here ';Yoga and meditation is the answer to everything.';
just make me an extra SOMEHOW
I will say ';i've got a bone for ya';
I'd be the southern country simpleton that everyone laughs at but secretly relates too

Which trilogy do u think is more successful Star Wars or Lord of the Rings?
Star Wars. (Eff you *****. We Both know Why I have to say that!)Which trilogy do u think is more successful Star Wars or Lord of the Rings?
Star Wars
Considering that it was originally released in the 70's remade in the 90's and then the whole saga was wrapped up in the 2000's it is safe to say that overall Star Wars are more successfull than Lord of the Rings.
Give it time and the LOTR triology will become as well franchised and marketed as Star Wars.
I don't know of any 30+ person going and dressing up as a hobbit, but I do see them as Storm Troopers!!Which trilogy do u think is more successful Star Wars or Lord of the Rings?
I guess it depends on what you mean by successful. Overall, the star wars trilogy has led to highly profitable ventures in merchandise, movies, comics, memorabilia, etc. In that regard the trilogy has made more money.
Lord of the Rings is a similar massive blockbuster. However, critically it is more successful because it has won so many awards (Acedemy, Gloden Globes, international awards)
i guess it just depens, the two are nothing alike. i like lord of the rings better personally, but star wars the original ones were awesome too.(not the newer ones i hate those)
Lord of the Rings. It made more money at the box office and won more awards. Also the story has been around much longer.
You are comparing trilogies in two different genres. This is like comparing apples with oranges.
Original Star wars.

Lord of the Rings, hands down

Do you think with the release of the CGI Star Wars Clone Wars will lead to remakes of the original trilogy?
The release of the New Clone Wars CGI movie do you think that they will remake the original trilogy using the same technology in affect modernizing it and not having to change characters, already synonymous with their associated personas.Do you think with the release of the CGI Star Wars Clone Wars will lead to remakes of the original trilogy?
What should be done is Beowulf quality CGI using the original trilogy characters portraying either the Thrawn trilogy, Shadows of the Empire, or the events of the YV War.
Wow how aresome would Shadows of the Empire beDo you think with the release of the CGI Star Wars Clone Wars will lead to remakes of the original trilogy?
Sweet Lord, I hope not. The film is ment as a launch for a new CGI / anime Clone Wars television series - but the plot has the Jedi rescuing Jabba's son?! Why would the Jedi even bother?
The Clone Wars have already been covered in animation, novels, books and games - what's left to tell that won't seem like a re-hash?
Lucasfilm also had (has?) plans for a live-action series taking place between episodes III and IV - which would cover the rise of the Empire and the Rebel opposition. Guess I'd rather see them spend money on that. But once again, how do you keep it fresh?
no, the old trilogy is 100 times better, if they remake anything, it should be trilogy I, II, and III. You cant beat harisson ford with han solo.
who knows george lucas is a very money obsessed person, he'll release anything 2 get more money
Please god nooo! I hope they don't.. why mess with a perfect thing. I hope lucas focus on doing a movie dealing with the star wars extended universe, meaning what happens after return of the jedi.
nah, i dont think so.
if anything, they're release sequals using cgi. or more prequals.
cancer sucks

Abhorsen Trilogy Question?
Are there going to be any more Abhorsen books? I read about something called clerial: the lost abhorsen (sry about spelling) but i dont know if it is true? I really hope so cuz i love those books but does anyone know for sureAbhorsen Trilogy Question?
Yes, Clariel: The Lost Abhorsen is slated for a 2009 release. By the way, have you read Across the Wall by Garth Nix? The first 50 or so pages are a mini-novel follow up to Abhorsen called ';Nicholas Sayre and the Creature in the Case.'; The rest of the book is made up of very good and varied short stories. It's well worth reading the whole thing. Also, to pass the time before Clariel comes out, try reading Nix's Shade's Children, which is only one novel but every bit as good as Sabriel. Also he has written another series of seven novels, but they are more intended for a younger age group.Abhorsen Trilogy Question?
If anyone is interested in reading Creature in the Case, I suggest going to Amazon.com, I bought the UK release for less than a dollar, with $2-$3 shipping. Well worth my $5 or so for an Old Kingdom fix Report Abuse
There is a book of short stories called Across the Wall by Garth Nix that continues the tale of Nicholas, but it is only the first 50 pages or so of the book. It is an interesting story but not worth buying the book. If your interested check at your public library.
I don't think so. :(
I'm an avid Abhorsen fan but the last book came out YEARS ago - (and Mr Nix has released Across the Wall. :)

Can anyone explain me how Matrix Trilogy is linked with Hindu Mythology?
The makers have spent a lot of time in analysing the facts in Hinduism, which stresses on 'There is no two' and so any thing is possible by an individual. Can anyone explain me how Matrix Trilogy is linked with Hindu Mythology?
The Matrix has been an alarmingly hit Hollywood movie that has seeped through the corners of the world, generating billions of dollars of revenue. This action masterpiece created by the Wachowski brothers has produced millions of fans around the world. But the Matrix trilogy has a deeper meaning than just guns and bullets. This is one interpretation of The Matrix.
There are many parallels between The Matrix trilogy and Hindu philosophy. The Matrix can even be considered as an example to better understand some of the concepts of Hinduism. Maya, Moksha, the concept of God and the balance of good and bad can all be understood through its well-known story. For those who haven鈥檛 seen the movies, The Matrix is about a computer hacker (Neo) who is given the knowledge by Morpheus that the world he was living in is not real, and just a simulation created by machines of the future. He races to save the city of the real world (Zion), created by others like him, from the machines.
Let鈥檚 start from the beginning of the story. Neo, a computer hacker, is wondering about what The Matrix is, after he hears about it in a chat room. It haunts him for a long time, until he meets Trinity, aide of Morpheus, who tells him how to find out. Neo asks her, ';What is the Matrix?';, to which Trinity replies, ';Twelve years ago I met [Morpheus], a great man, who said that no one could be told the answer to that question. That they had to see it, to believe it.'; Morpheus here acts as a guru or teacher, a realized one who leads his followers to truth. He tells Neo exactly what Ramakrishna Paramahamsa said to Swami Vivekananda鈥檚 question, ';What is God?'; Hinduism says that God cannot be explained鈥he truth can only be experienced.
Then in the story, Morpheus shows and explains to Neo about the Matrix, the world from which he was living in before he got to the real world. Neo asks, ';This isn't real?'; To which Morpheus replies, ';What is real? How do you define real? If you're talking about your senses, what you feel, taste, smell, or see, then all you're talking about are electrical signals interpreted by your brain.';
In Hinduism, this concept of the ';Matrix'; is called Maya. It is said that the world we live in is just an illusion, created by our minds. Our senses, feelings and emotions are just illusions we trick ourselves into believing in. In explaining Maya, Sankara very often refers to the example of the rope and the snake. As long as one mistakes a rope for a snake, he is frightened and reacts to the rope as if it were a real snake. When he realizes that what he sees is only a rope, he laughs.
The Hindu concept of God is the state in which one realizes that the world is just a Matrix, or Maya, and that everything around him is an illusion. This state is called Moksha, or Nirvana, which Neo attains in the movie after he realizes what the Matrix is.
Then, in the second movie, the maker calls Neo ';an unbalanced equation';. By this he is saying exactly what Hinduism believes. Good cannot be alone in this world. Without Bad, the earth will not spin. There has to be a balance of good and evil, of creation and destruction. One of our Gods, Shiva is called the destructor. Destruction is also necessary because ';Everything that has a beginning has an end.';
Maybe the Wachowski brothers did not think of Hinduism when they created the widely known Matrix trilogy. But Hinduism is such a scientific way of life that it automatically applies to the modern world. To fully realize Hindu philosophy, we must do what a well known phrase says 鈥?';Wake up, Neo.';Can anyone explain me how Matrix Trilogy is linked with Hindu Mythology?
finding The One within
After the first one the Matrix sort of descended into pretentious bollocks.
As for a link with Hindu mythology i'm not too sure.
Kumaraa has given a good comparitive explaination...just want to correct him at on point...
Lord Shiva is not destroyer of Humans...He isthe destroyer of Universe..When Hindus speak about creator, Preserver, Destroyer --- it is being mentioned in d context of Universe n not humans....Shivji is not '; evil';....that is a wrong explaination...actually according to Hinduism..there is no ';evil'; of ';leader of evil';....there can b evil people ( bcause of their karma)...but ultimately everything is of Good i.e God - Shiva, Bramha, Vishnu..

Will The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (movie) meet future movie viewers' expectations?
The Lord of the Rings is now considered a classic and may be the best motion picture of this generation. These stories of rings and hobbits get passed down to future readers who will become aware of what great success the generation before them was granted. My question is this, do you think the future fans of J. R. R. Tolkien will be fulfilled or disappointed with the classic film of our generation? Were you satisfied with the trilogy youself? Will The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (movie) meet future movie viewers' expectations?
Yes...and yes...
they were very well done...good acting good effects...even watching star wars today it is good enough for me to appreciate the movie and enjoy it...Will The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (movie) meet future movie viewers' expectations?
lord of the rings is going to be in the futrue as the original star wars trilogy is like today. i was satisfied

What's the most awesome movie trilogy ever?
Which one is your favorite, and why? Does it hold good memories? A good message? Or does it just rock? Horror, adventure, fantasy, sci-fi? (I'll bend the rules a little and allow for movies that are longer than trilogies but more than just sequals XD)
My personal favorite is the LOTR trilogy, then the POTC trilogy. I'm a sucker for fantasy :PWhat's the most awesome movie trilogy ever?
I love all of the trilogies that have been said so far, but i would say that The Godfather, Star Wars (original trilogy, I count them as two separate trilogies), Pirates and LOTR are easily the best. I'm not a huge fan of The Godfather part 3, but what could compete with the level of awesomeness that the other two had? LOTR was a brilliant adaption of a brilliant story, and couldn't have been made better, and Pirates is just a surprisingly great film series that Johnny Depp's acting and eccentricities made as good as they are.
I wish that terminator 3 hadn't been terrible so I could say those films, because Judgement day is genious. What's the most awesome movie trilogy ever?
I'd go with the Matrix trilogy as my favorite. I just never get tired of watching it and I love how you can interpret the meaning of the movies in anyway that makes sense to you.
I would like to say the Godfather Trilogy as well but I'm not a big fan of Godfather III, its not as good as the first two.
1. Star Wars (original)
2. Lord of the Rings
3. Indiana Jones movies
4. The Godfather (Part 3 hurts it)
5. The Matrix (half of Reloaded and all of Revolution hurts it)
6. Star Wars (prequel - should have been better)
Pirates of the caribbean is the best trilogy ever made.
--my husband and I discuss this very thing in great length the other evening. We used the old ';if you were stuck watching one trilogy for the rest of your life'; thing and we decided that while Lord of the Rings, X-Men, %26amp; Star Wars are all great we just felt that this one was the only one we could handle watching over and over and over and over again forever.
Sometimes you just don't feel like Lord of the Rings or X-Men, but you're always in the mood for Jack Sparrow.
I would have to say the original ';Star Wars'; trilogy. Every one has kick a** action, dialogue and characters. I watched them as a kid so they bring back a lot of great memories for me.
first of all harry potter is not a trilogy.
now that i have that out of my system--
i love LOTR!!!
POTC is second.
i've never seen the matrix. those are the only trilogy's i can think of.
That's a hard one. I like Star Wars (4, 5, and 6) (I'm not too bigg on the first three) and the Matrix was good. I also like the first three Exorsicts and the first three Omens. I know they have more, but I like the first three the best. X-Men was okay. LOTR is awesome too.
%26lt;3,
Star Wars is the best movie saga ever!!!!!!!
come on, ';In a galaxy far far away';, thats a part of our popular culture. the Star Wars saga is so awesome
Godfather I, II, III
Acting, cast, consistency.
Pirates of the Caribbean!!!
I would have to say the
Lord of the Ring Trilogy- for its Story and Screenplay
Harry Potter- sor its presentation
star wars- for good action
pirates of carribean- for good acting by Johny Depp
Star Wars .... enough said
Matrix seems like a good one.. and star wars isn't a trilogy.. it was 6 movies.

Harry Potter rocks!
the godfather..1,2,3...should i explain further...
I would have to say the Lord of the Rings. it's full of action and a GREAT story line good job J.R.R. Tolkien

Sci-fi trilogy I read in 1980 or 1981?
It was about a man who moved from one place to another back and forth at will. It starts in our country USA and moves to another dimension This other dimension had people l who lived in forests and everything was concentrated on wood; another was water. where everything was concentrated on that element. There was always a woman in these other dimensions, different ones in each ; sometime in a love situation somethimes just friendship. I think there was a sicness or injury in the first book in the first dimension and a woman brings him back to health. There were wars he was involved in against other factions living in these dimensions. The main character would start in the USA and be transported to another dimension and then back again. I read the first two books in the early 1980's ('80 and '81).Sci-fi trilogy I read in 1980 or 1981?

Mortal Kombat Trilogy help?
im having some trouble doing fatalities. Any tips that could help me. The only one i can do is kabals babality. And is there a way to have one button fatalities. This is the n64 version.Mortal Kombat Trilogy help?
Awesome game. Good to see you people still playing it!
I used to know all fatalities (back in 97, LOL). I spent months learning them all. Continuous practise!Mortal Kombat Trilogy help?
check gamefqs.com
Some of the combinations for the fatalities don't seem to work (useful, eh?), so if there are 1 or 2 that don't seem to work no matter what you do, it's nothing to be concerned about.
With ones that involve pressing up and down, hold block while you enter the directional commands, then release block and enter the required attack button. Like with all the fatalities, this needs to be done fairly quickly.
I think there may be an option to do 1 hit fatalities in 1 of the 2 hidden menus. To access these, enter the following during the demo screen:
Block, HK, LK, Run, LP, HP, HP, HP, LP, LP
You should hear someone say ';Aw wha?';. Go to the Options menu, and there should be 2 extra menus to choose from.
for the classical MK games (no matter what version) all buttons are going to be the same y'know, High Kick, Low Punch, that sort of stuff and if you are having trouble with fatalities you should check this site for your source of information. Try it!

Is 'Inkheart Trilogy Slipcase' containing all three books inkheart, inkspell and inkdeath?
from this website: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1906427鈥?/a>Is 'Inkheart Trilogy Slipcase' containing all three books inkheart, inkspell and inkdeath?
I would imagine so, because it says ';Inkheart Trilogy';. But it also says ';paperback'; and Inkdeath has not come in paperback yet, so unless its all the books into 1, like the Narnia series, it does not contain all three books (they were awesome!). Hope this was helpful!

Sadly, they've been pulled from the net by the author. =( I'm sad to learn that, they were the fics that taught me finfic could be great and fun and witty. They were one of the most widely fics that I know of. Oh well, I guess if you really need a Cassie Clair fix, you could buy her book, City of Bones (in the YA section of your bookstore). I'm thinking of doing that after work.

The Uglies Trilogy?
If you've read it, don't you think society is pushing us all to be prettyheads like in the second book? The whole world is going to end up like that cause people go along with whatever is 'in' to easily. What do you think? The Uglies Trilogy?
I think society is pushing all young girls to be thin and beautiful. That is why the population of anorexic and bulimic girls is growing. They also want girls to start wearing makeup at 10 and start having sex at 13 -15. This society wants kids to grow up too fast and never enjoy their childhood. If you read those two, you should also read ';Specials.'; They are all great books. The Uglies Trilogy?
I don't think that society would ever really make it that far. Even in the books, the only reason the whole prettyhead thing works is because everyone is basically brain damaged from those lesions given during the surgery. Even in the books, there's constant rebellion against the standards (the Smoke, and the main characters).
And while lots of people are literally killing themselves (eating disorders, botched plastic surgery, etc.) to meet what society thinks is pretty, there are also tons of people who have self-defined what pretty is (Suicide Girls, etc).
I agree. There is alot of peer pressure and not alot of people willing to stand up to that peer pressure.

The ';Princess ';trilogy by Jean Sasson?
I've just finished reading these books and am just a bit sceptical...To those of you who've read them...is any of it true or is it just a clever ruse to sell more books? If it is true, then what are your feelings on the atrocities perpetrated against innocent women?
Also...does the wealth of the Al Saud royal family not seem obscene to you?The ';Princess ';trilogy by Jean Sasson?
i didnt read it, but there are many similar books that i can never read. it is very fake or though some can be true, but it is exaggerated and give you an impression that the whole culture is like that, which is very misleading.
if you are interested to read something true, you can read ';Girls From Riyadh';. Though the story went through big criticism, but it gives you one lifestyle that is very true in saudi.
from the non-fiction, there is a famous very old issue from national geographic and the cover story was saudi women:
Women of Saudi Arabia,” October 1987, National Geographic magazine
i got hold of one issue, and was impressed. the reason it was good that it was unbiased and it was written by an american lady who lived for many years in saudi arabia. she wrote both good and bad sides. though it was 1987 but it sounds 10 times better from what you can hear in the global media today. The ';Princess ';trilogy by Jean Sasson?
I've read the books. Its pretty much 98.75% fake. Right now, Saudi Arabia is put under the american spotlight because it pretty much owns 49.87% of American wealth (in investments), a number that has been only recently touted around by big names such as CNN and FOXnews. Personally, living in the kingdom is great. I dont care how much the Al-Saud have. But the only objection I have to that is that most of it should belong to the king and his next-to-the-throne, Prince Sultan. But its pretty much distilled between many many princes and princesses. In 2006, it has been estimated that King Fahad was unofficially the world's richest man, with an estimated $500 Bil. USD estimated by Forbes mag.
So no, its not obscene to me, just because I dont have it, doesnt mean I should ridicule them for having alot of it. Its god's mercy on them and a test, to see how they use their money. Right now, I hate to generalise, but the majority of them are abusing it. but there are some who go out of their way to spend the majority of their funds in charitable work and for the people. May Allah bless the King and the Kingdom!
The books are fake, but believe me the house of saud are probably more messed up in real life than in those books

I've read all of them..and I recommend starting with the Dragonlance Chronicles...3 books, all named after seasons.
I work with a guy that loves these books so much that his daughter's name is Kitiara, and his son is Sturm.

Lord of the Rings trilogy vs Prince Caspian?
whatcha think me old muckersLord of the Rings trilogy vs Prince Caspian?
Oh my holy fcuk. lol Don't ever insult Lord of the Rings like that ever!
That's like Star Wars vs Star Trek.
There is no comparison, in book or film form. Not that Prince Caspian and all that series isn't OK, but LOTR is beyond it. Prince Caspian can't even see LOTR because it's so far beyond him. Lord of the Rings trilogy vs Prince Caspian?
I see that many of the people here seem to like the LOTR trilogy much more than Prince Caspian. I, on the other hand, liked Prince Caspian more. I'm not saying that LOTR is bad, because it probably comes in on #2; it's just a little bit more for, well, ';older audiences'; whereas Prince Caspian has managed to keep a PG-rating.
Now, comparing a masterpiece trilogy that's been out for several years and that's seen world-wide to one movie of the (hopefully) seven Narnia movies (that aren't even near-done) that has been out for over half a year now probably will result in the answers that have already been given. LOTR is definately a great Trilogy, but Prince Caspian has clearly left many audiences in awe as well :)
Honestly, it's not a comparison. The scope of LotR was just so huge in comparison. That's not to say Prince Caspian wasn't really good...
That's like how so many people compared LotR to Harry Potter (and Harry Potter to the Narnia books and now Harry Potter to Twilight). None of these movies can really be compared. Sure, they're all set in a fantastical world with battles of good v. evil or what have you (this excludes Twilight...haven't seen it so don't include it any further remarks I'm making, lol) but the stories are so completely different and the characters are all unique. You can't compare Frodo to Harry or Harry to Caspian or Sauron to Voldemort or Aslan to Dumbledore. It's just not that simple. I think a person (like me) can be a huge fan off all of these series. I've read the Narnia books and the Harry Potter series and loved both. Harry Potter was more for me because when I'm reading a good book, I don't want it to end and the lenth of the last four were pure heaven. But that's beside the point.
A more even comparison would be...Deep Impact to Armageddon (seriously, it was SO similiar!).
Two masterpieces but aimed to different people/public. Lord of the Rings is directed to adults or general public while Chronicles of Narnia is for children. As a work for adults the books of LOTR are longer, with more characters, more complex plot.
Though Prince Caspian, together with the rest of the Narnia series is quite easy to follow and rather interesting, it simply cannot compare to the LotR trilogy. The LotR trilogy is a lot better, with a much larger fanbase as well.
LORD OF THE RINGS is in a different league than CRONICLES OF NARNIA, PRINCE CASPIAN etc..............
3 fantastic series of books and movies are:
LORD OF THE RINGS,
NARNIA,
HARRY POTTER....................
**********ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC*********
I actually like the Narnia movie's a lot better. I could never get into the Lord Of The Rings at all. Narnia was a lot easier to follow.
I love The Chronicles of Narnia series and Prince Caspian was amazing. I'm not much of a Lord of the Rings fan, though so I can't really compare.
Lord Of The Rings Trilogy are a complete masterpiece, they don't even compare to Narnia.
I am insulted just by you asking that question. Shame on you to even think of comparing The Lord of the Rings with that puny movie...
Lord of the Rings no hesitation
Lord of the rings rules ok.
lord of the rings hands down!!
narnia doesn't even come close.
you are so dumb they dont even compare

The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant (and Second Chronicles and Final Chronicles) by Steven R Donaldson
The Dark Tower series by Steven King
The Novels of Dune by Frank Herbert
The Foundation Series by Asimov
The Novels of the Jaran by Kate Elliott
The Wheel of Time Saga by Robert Jordan
Any Dragon Lance, Star Trak, Star Wars series if interested
and, yes, Harry Potter by JK Rowling
For a great combo of sci-fi, fantasy and action try the ';Dune'; series by Frank Herbert.
Also the ';Fellowship of the Ring'; series by JRR Tolkien; even if you saw the movies, the books as usual are better.
There are two fantasy series by Anne Rice, one starting with ';Interview with a Vampire,'; a wonderful book nearly ruined by a poor movie...and the vampire books that follow it; ';The Vampire Lestat'; and another...
and Rice's series about Egyptian rulers and gods, starting as I recall with one called ';Ramses,'; maybe ';Ramses and Isis,'; and continuing.
Ursula K. LeGuin wrote a very good series about Earhsea, starting with ';The Wizard of Earthsea,'; but I like her book ';Left Hand of Darkness'; more, and that may have a follow-up, too-- she has written several short series so you might want to check them over at the library or bookstore.
Anne McCaffery wrote a good series in ';The Pendragon'; run, quite a run of solid action books-- fantasy.
T.H. White wrote a masterpiece of fantasy called ';The Once and Future King,'; a quite large book to be read in sections, like a series, about Camelot.
depends wat u want outta it.
the underland chronicles-some adventure, and its really cool. has the air of harry potter to it.
twilight, new moon, and eclipse-romanc, action, and vampires. really good!!!
I highly recommend George R.R. Martin's series, A Song of Ice and Fire. If you're tired of cliched, black and white characters and predictable plots, this is your book. The first book in the series is called A Game of Thrones.

Here is one reviewer's list of reasons to read this series:
(1) YOU ARE TIRED OF FORMULAIC FANTASY: good lad beats the dark lord against impossible odds; boy is the epitome of good; he and all his friends never die even though they go through great dangers . . . the good and noble king; the beautiful princess who falls in love with the commoner boy even though their stations are drastically different . . . you get the idea. After reading this over and over, it gets old.
(2) YOU ARE TIRED OF ALL THE HEROES STAYING ALIVE EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE UNDER CONSTANT DANGER: this gets even worse where the author kills a main hero off but that person comes back later in the story. Or, a hero does die but magic brings him back.
This sometimes carries to minor characters where even they may not die, but most fantasy authors like to kill them off to show that some risked the adventure and perished.
(3) YOU ARE A MEDIEVAL HISTORY BUFF: this story was influenced by the WARS OF THE ROSES and THE HUNDRED YEARS WAR.
(4) YOU LOVE SERIOUS INTRIGUE WITHOUT STUPID OPPONENTS: lots of layering; lots of intrigue; lots of clever players in the game of thrones. Unlike other fantasy novels, where one side, usually the villain, is stupid or not too bright.
(5) YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BIASED OPINIONS AND DIFFERENT TRUTHS: GRRM has set this up where each chapter has the title of one character and the whole chapter is through their viewpoint. Interesting tidbit is that you get their perception of events or truths. But, if you pay attention, someone else will mention a different angle of truth in the story that we rarely see in other novels. Lastly and most importantly, GRRM doesn't try to tell us which person is right in their perception. He purposelly leaves it vague so that we are kept guessing.
(6) LEGENDS: some of the most interesting characters are those who are long gone or dead. We never get the entire story but only bits and pieces; something that other fantasy authors could learn from to heighten suspense. Additionally, b/c the points of views are not congruent, we sometimes get different opinions.
(7) WORDPLAY: if you're big on metaphors and description, GRRM is your guy. Almost flawless flow.
(8) LOTS OF CONFLICT: all types, too; not just fighting but between characters through threats and intrigue.
(9) MULTILAYERED PLOTTING; SUB PLOTS GALORE: each character has their own separate storyline; especially as the story continues and everyone gets scattered. This is one of the reasons why each novel is between 700-900 pages.
(10) SUPERLATIVE VARIED CHARACTERS: not the typical archetypes that we are used to in most fantasy; some are gritty; few are totally evil or good; GRRM does a great job of changing our opinions of characters as the series progresses. This is especially true in book three.
(11) REALISTIC MEDIEVAL DIALOGUE: not to the point that we can't understand it but well done.
(12) HEAPS OF SYMOBLISM AND PROPHECY: if you're big on that.
(13) EXCELLENT MYSTERIES: very hard to figure out the culprits; GRRM must have read a lot of mystery novels.
(14) RICHLY TEXTURED FEMALE CHARACTERS: best male author on female characters I have read; realistic on how women think, too.
(15) LOW MAGIC WORLD: magic is low key; not over the top so heroes can't get out of jams with it.
apart from those already mentioned (anne macaffery also has the pen-name 'Mercedes Lackey', BTW) which i wont bother repeating, although some of them are definately worth reading...
i would suggest Garth Nix (In particular the old kingdom trilogy - Sabriel/Lirael/Abhorsen, and stand alones: The Ragwitch, Shade's Children) or Isobel Carmody (The Obernewyton Series, The Gateway Trilogy, the Legendsong Saga - Darkfall/Darksong/Darkbane, as well as stand alones: Scatterlings, Alayzon Whitestarr, Green Monkey Dreams and Greylands) or Chris Wooding (The Haunting of Alizabel Cray) Sarah Douglas (The Battleaxe Trilogy is exceptional)... Robin Hobb is also brilliant (Assassin's Trilogy - The Liveship Traders Trilogy - Fool's Errand Trilogy and the Forest Mage Trilogy)... China Melveille is superb (New Crobuzonian Series - Peridilo St Station/The Scar/Iron Council, and stand alones: King Rat, UnLunDun) or Tad Williams, who has done a lot of different types of fantasy (War of the Flowers, and the Green Angel Tower series are my favourites) ...um... Laura/Laurell Hamilton is not bad, particularly if you like more erotic/Crime/vampire/wereanimal style fantasy (The Anita Blake Series, The Merry Gentry Series) there is also terry pratchett's Discworld series (30 something books, i prefer the ones with Sam Vimes as the lead character), if you like comic fantasy thats perfect for you. Who else? umm... Janny Wurts, Susan Cooper, Elizabeth Cooper, Eoin Cofer, Margaret Atwood, Raymond E Feist, Tamora Pierce, Emily Rhoda, Sean Williams, Terry Goodkind and Gene Wolfe all have some great series/trilogy works... but these are just off the top of my head - i dont have my bookshelf in front of me, so its just what i can think of...
