Both Halo and Doom are from the sci-fi genre, giving them a little bit in common. In terms of storyline and gameplay, there's quite a difference.





Halo was one of... well who am I kidding THE groundbreaking game for the Xbox. I'll never know why exactly. It was fun, there were multiple weapons, and the game play was enjoyable. The story was interesting enough and the challenge of the game was decent. The only draw back I thought was the repeating environments. You run through one of the levels twice but I didn't think that took too much away from it.





With each of the Halo sequels, new stuff was added in: weapons, abilities (such as dual wielding and vehicle jacking), along with upgrades/downgrades to keep the game balanced. Its a fun multiplayer game as well (and that's a short sentence to summarize the experience).





Doom and its sequels were one of the pioneers of FPS. It was something new. The weapons were straightforward, the enemies demonic and hellish (well they were from Hell) and the plot, if you kept up with it from the originals, had you playing the Marine badass that saved the world again and again.





The most recent Doom game, Doom 3 and its expansion, takes you back to Mars and remade the entire game. The story's still the same and you're fighting the legions of Hell but the graphics and details are gorgeous. The environment creeped the hell out of me. There were times when something would clatter in the room I was in, I'd save, take a few deep breaths, and then just quit because I was worried about dying (I hate dying so sue me).





I wouldn't recommend either over the other. Both of them you can play online (Look up the Last Man Standing mod for Doom 3) and both had great weapons, stories, and enemies to fight. If you're looking for more action shooter, do Halo. More survival themed shooter, play Doom 3. Both are a challenge when you want them to be but both can be played pretty casually too.

when u think of a modern shooter, it is halo not doom that comes to mind. halo has better gameplay, a better story, and way better multiplayer. Doom is washed up and becoming a dying franchise. let it die

Halo is so....sketchy and unorganized in my opinon. Doom has always been a favorite.
Halo trilogy. DUH. Who would not know that. Any halo is good.
